Appartment

Giving apartment residents a voice — and a way to act on it.

THE PROBLEM

In most apartment buildings, residents don't know each other and have no structured way to surface shared problems — a broken elevator, noise complaints, maintenance backlogs. Building managers are overwhelmed with informal WhatsApp groups. Issues get lost, conflicts escalate, and communities never form.

APPROACH

Building a mobile app where residents of the same building can post issues, upvote the most pressing ones, and track resolution status. The building manager sees a prioritised queue instead of scattered messages. Social features let neighbours introduce themselves and organise voluntary initiatives — moving beyond complaints to actual community building.

KEY DECISIONS

  • 1

Upvote-based prioritisation removes the need for a manager to judge which complaint is most important.

  • 2

Anonymous posting option for sensitive issues (noise, neighbour conflicts) increases reporting honesty.

  • 3

Building verification via registered address prevents outsiders from joining and ensures trust.

  • 4

Chose a freemium B2C model with a B2B tier for property management companies managing multiple buildings.

OUTCOME

In early-stage development. Prototype tested with residents of two buildings in Istanbul. Key insight: the manager role is the hardest to onboard — the product now includes a 5-minute manager setup flow. Targeting 10 pilot buildings before a wider launch.
